Mancini blasts City surrender Tottenham 3 Man City 1

ROBERTO MANCINI slammed his side after they surrended the Premier League crown.

Manchester City threw away a one-goal lead at Spurs and a win for rivals United tonight will

now secure the title.

Mancini said: “United had a better attitude because they lost last year. I was very surprised.
 I
thought we were going to win — instead we are talking about a defeat.”

Second-placed City trail United by 13 points with five games to go — after collapsing at Spurs

with 15 minutes left.

And Alex Ferguson’s side can tie up the title by beating Aston Villa at Old Trafford tonight.

Mancini insisted: “United deserve to win the title but they are not a better team.

“They deserve to win this title because we lost a lot of points in games we didn’t deserve to

lose — and United won a lot of games in a row

But the City boss admitted his team had waved the white flag at times.

“Have we gifted them the title? Sometimes we probably did.

“But I think the 13-point gap is not reality for this championship.

“The reason there is a gap like today is to do with attitude.

“They wanted to win after last year.

“There are many reasons we lose but they deserve to win.”

City were on course to put United’s title celebrations on hold when Samir Nasri slotted them

into a fifth-minute lead.

Mancini’s men were comfortable until Spurs scored three goals in six minutes and 22 seconds

— through Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale — to stun City.

The Italian admitted: “It’s not easy to play here against Tottenham.

“They have good players and a good manager.

“We gave a good performance for almost 80 minutes and we had a chance to score the

second goal.

“We didn’t score and did two big mistakes.”
