Why Suarez May Fail At Barcelona

Barcelona made the club’s record signing when they fulfilled the buyout clause in Luis Suarez’s contract despite a four-month ban hanging over the footballer’s career. While many believe the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and the new guy would devastate any defence in Europe and bring the Catalan club back to winning ways, I doubt if this will happen.

The three players are fantastic and they can influence the outcome of any match with mesmerising skills and eye for goal, but not many great players have been successful playing alongside Messi at Barcelona.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic cost Barcelona €69.5 million but he could not replicate his superb form that has made him very important at Ajax, Juventus and Inter Milan. He even claimed the club manager had not spoken to him for 5 months when he played his last game for Barcelona on August 25.
In an autobiography in 2011, Ibra said that things went downhill for him at Barca because Messi asked to change position.
“It was a childhood dream and I was walking on air,” said Ibrahimovic. “It started well but then Messi started to talk.
“He wanted to play in the middle, not on the wing, so the system changed from 4-3-3 to 4-5-1. I was sacrificed and no longer had the freedom on the pitch I need to succeed.”
David Villa came in and had a similar challenge, Messi was the golden boy and he would play wherever he liked. So went Villa’s career at Barcelona like Thierry Henry before him.
Alexis Sanchez was another victim, but after showing his class at the just concluded World Cup, Arsenal came to save him.
Suarez would have weighed his options very well and would have stalled the move for a call from Real Madrid, but his misdemeanor at the World Cup only meant no team without a real striker crisis would want him.
Blame the coaches for not having the guts to play Messi where they think it’s best for the team. Although it played out fine for Pep Guardiola and Tito Villanova, but Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino beared the brunt as Barcelona looked so ordinary, finishing the season without a single trophy just because Lionel Messi didn’t play well.
Where were the Pedros, Alexis Sanchez and free-scoring midfielders like Cesc Fabregas? They have become ordinary over a run of games having to play the way Messi dictates.
Now Suarez has gotten the number 9 at Camp Nou, but he may never play as such. The freedom he had at Anfield that made him lift Liverpool back to reckoning may not be there at Barcelona and this will make his career suffer like Neymar’s.
The Brazilian carries his country because he had the freedom to play and his absence was evident after his injury forced him out of some crucial games at the World Cup, with the Samba boys finishing fourth at mundial.
No team will give three players freedom to play at a time, but maybe there would have been a way out if Messi never dictates everything, but Luis Enrique is another former Barca player, who is likely going to preserve the Messi adoration.
If Real Madrid had made play all about Cristiano Ronaldo, maybe Atletico Madrid would have won the Champions League. But those crucial matches were never about Ronaldo last season and Angel Di Maria and Gareth Bale shone and helped the Madrid club to two titles.
It’s high time Barcelona learnt. Messi is never going back to his form two years ago. He will probably be more effective if the games stop being all about him and Neymar can work with Suarez to bring back trophies to Camp Nou.
Messi has become a cancer at Barcelona; he is why many great players have not succeeded there. Luis Enrique, please take note.

PDP, Presidency Destabilizing APC-Controlled States – Oyegun

John Odigie-OyegunThe national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday said the display of power of impunity against governments and governors of states controlled by their members is a clear indication that the federal government on the watch of President Goodluck Jonathan could breed dire consequences.
National chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, stated this in Benin City, the Edo State capital, when he led a high-powered delegation of leaders and members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party on a solidarity visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole at the Government House, over the lingering crisis in the state House of Assembly.
Oyegun noted that, with the unstable political scenarios in Rivers, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kano and now Edo State, it was clear to the opposition party that the forces of the federal government and the PDP were out to destabilize the APC with “a properly mapped out war against the APC and to destabilize” it.
He added: “What is going on and what the party has come to realize is that there is a properly mapped out war against the APC, to destabilize the APC. While you are going through your travails here, we are also trying to contain the fires that have been emitting in Adamawa; we are preparing for the one they are promising in Nasarawa State and so on and so forth and the bombs have started exploding in Kano”.
Oyegun, who was the first executive governor of Edo State, assured Oshiomhole that the party is solidly behind him and the 15 APC lawmakers in the legislative arm of government.
The APC chieftain said they were in the state over the failure of the PDP legislators to obey various court orders and the use of security agencies as against their constitutional roles of protection of life and property but have reduced themselves to a willing tool in the hands of the Presidency.
He made particular reference to what he called the political “travails” being orchestrated against the governors of Rivers, Edo and three others in the northern part of the country controlled by the APC.
“Against all odds you have stood firm and we want to thank you that this is the new spirit of the new APC, for the simple reason that you are not alone in the most current attack and destabilization of APC governments and governors. Before you is, of course, the imitable Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State whose travails are still far from being over, but I am glad and surprised today when he said that he was just from a Security Council meeting”.
Oshiomhole in his remarks, said he would not be distracted by the activities of the PDP lawmakers and the national leadership of the party.
While thanking the party leaders for their sense of commitment and visit to the state, he said by the action of the embattled PDP lawmakers, they were out to procure 13 out of the 24 members in the House to block every executive bill, frustrate the 2015 budget and equally put a stop to the developmental initiatives of government in the state.
“Because the PDP is so frightened by our record of achievements and the fact that every day they lament that my crime is that whereas people knew that this state was grossly mismanaged they were unable to put scale on the level of mismanagement, but each time they see the six-lane roads across Benin; the huge urban renewal programme we sustained, the massive development, health centres, free education up to secondary school level, free bus services for pupils, whether they are private or public schools; people can now imagine how much they have lost in 10 years”.
Oshiomhole vowed that as long as this generation of Edo people is alive, the PDP has no hope in Edo State, stressing that all they are doing is simply designed to destabilize the state.
The governor stated that the PDP legislators were the ones that are in contempt of the courts after they have collected about N75 million to defect from the APC to the PDP and to prosecute their evil plot against the state and the people.
The APC delegation included Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, former governors of Abia and Kwara States, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu and Senator Bukola Saraki respectively, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajamila, former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, and APC national publicity secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

'Always tip your private jet pilot $10K': How the spoiled Rich Kids of Instagram are spending summer

The world’s most unapologetically rich teenagers have been spending this summer so far in typically over-the-top, extravagant style.
From landing their helicopters on tennis courts to relaxing on private, million-dollar yachts the Rich Kids of Instagram have been documenting each self-indulgent moment on social media.
Most posts include advice that could only apply to the 0.01per cent: ‘When flying in a private jet, it is recommended you tip your pilot, and co-pilot, at least $10,000,’ one reads.

Before 17-year-old Marcus Adolf drove his BMW X3 to the Hamptons for the summer, he took his credit card for a spin at Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco - but not just any credit card.

Mr Adolf posted an image of his American Express Black Card on Instagram with the caption 'shopping time!' last month. The average cardholder has $16million in assets and an annual household income of $1.3million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The teen also likes to show off his collection of Rolexes on the blog, and he's not the only one.
