Breaking News- Stella Oduah Deletes Education References Online After SR Report

The troubled Aviation Minister is dancing and swimming in all sorts of scandals ranging from stealing public funds to acquire luxury armored BMW to forging MBA degree. Nigerians can not be trusted. why on earth should an honourable minister of the federal republic of nigeria forge a degree. why didnt her degree verified before resuming office. wonders will never end in nigeria

oduah
I saw the Sahara Reporters news yesterday but decided to leave it alone until the Minister responds to the allegations. And she has, by erasing her educational references online after SR’s report hit the net.
According to the report by Sahara Reporters, Aviation Minister Stella Odua’s Master’s degree which she claimed to have obtained from St. Paul’s College Lawrenceville, Virginia, US and presented to the Senate in 2011 as a ministerial nominee, is fake, because the school does not offer graduate programs.
Sahara Reporters learned from the President of the college that it has never in its 125-year history had a graduate school or graduate program. The Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Institutional Development said “We don’t offer any graduate programs here.”
Premium Times went digging and it looks like the allegation is true because by 4pm today, her profile page on Facebook was edited and all traces of St. Paul’s College was removed from the account. It was also removed from her Wikipedia page and her biography on the Ministry of Aviation website. See screen grabs after the cut…
Her Wikipedia page only says she received her Bachelors and Masters Degree (in Accounting and Business Administration respectively) in the United States, with no mention of what university.

The edited version. DID NOT mention of St Pauls

US College Says It Did Not Award MBA To Stella Oduah As It Has No Masters Programme

Stella Oduah
Stella Oduah, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation who is embroiled in a scandal of towering proportions in the ministry, faces new integrity questions as her Masters’ degree has been challenged by the United States school which supposedly awarded it.
Her resume, which she presented to the Senate as a ministerial nominee in 2011, indicated she obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from St. Paul’s College Lawrenceville, Virginia, United States.
But SaharaReporters has learned from the President of the college that it has never in its 125-year history had a graduate school or graduate program.
The Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Institutional Development said in response to our inquiries, “We don’t offer any graduate programs here.”
Similarly, the school’s website states: “Saint Paul's College is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate [bachelor’s] degrees.”  There is no mention of graduate degrees.

The Minister’s documentation shows she received an undergraduate degree in accounting from the college in 1982, but Dr. Claud Flythe, St. Paul’s current president, could neither confirm nor deny this during a phone conversation with SaharaReporters.  Further verification with the Office of Alumni Affairs is also currently impossible, the school said, because the college has been closed since June 2013 to loss of its accreditation.
“[Oduah] realized very early in life the indispensability of a sound education in her growth plans in life and therefore pursued her education with all diligence and sense of purpose,” her documents claimed, adding that a determination “to have the best education at the highest level” prompted her stay at the Virginia college in 1983 for the MBA programme.
As her public relations machinery marched on, in December 2012 The Sun newspaper published an article headlined “Stella Oduah: An Amazon of transformation,” which lauded her “MBA from St Paul’s College, Lawrenceville Virginia USA.”  The story also praised her for being an official who brought her “rich educational background to bear on the aviation sector by automating revenue centers in all the agencies and parastatals to boost their revenue profile and enhance transparency and accountability in the system.”
In October, SaharaReporters broke the story that Mrs. Oduah, a former campaign manager for President Goodluck Jonathan, purchased two bulletproof BMW cars worth $ 1.6 Million (N255m) through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, for her own use.
Following an investigation, the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation dismissed the Minister’s pleas of innocence and all her rebuttals during her testimony.  The committee’s report, which was subsequently adopted by the House, declared that no budgetary appropriation had been made for the purchase of the cars, and that the NCAA proposal for their purchase was rejected.
President Jonathan also set up a three-member administrative panel to investigate the matter, but he immediately travelled out of the country with Mrs. Oduah and Colonel Dasuki, the National Security Adviser who was to serve as a member of the panel.  Not only did the panel submit its report much later than the two weeks it was given for the assignment, Mr. Jonathan has refused to release its report.
Mrs. Oduah’s new certificate questions are certain to feed into national concern about her credibility as an elected official, but also about Mr. Jonathan’s credibility, and about the nation’s security apparatus which verifies official documents offered to the Senate for official nominations.
If Mrs. Oduah deliberately deceived the Senate, it remains to be seen if the Upper House will be sufficiently motivated to take up the matter with the Executive.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s aviation industry continues to face a massive challenge, with struggling airports and airlines, as well as financial and administrative pitfalls that hinder expansion and development.

CSNAC Calls On EFCC To Prosecute Lagos State Council Chairman Tajudeen Ajide

Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CSNAC) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the Surulere Local Government of Lagos State and to prosecute its chairman, Tajudeen Ajide, citing various newspaper reports as well as documentary evidence at the disposal of the Network.

In a petition dated December 17, CSNAC recalled that following the failure of Mr. Ajide to address several complaints by the legislative arm of the council bordering on corruption and abuse of office, the legislative council on 14 March 2013 resolved to commence suspension proceedings against him for misappropriation of public funds and contravention/disregard for the Public Finance Management Law of Lagos State.
The group noted that on the basis of the Legislative Council committee's findings and following its resolution dated 19th November 2012, a vote of no confidence was passed on Mr. Ajide and a number of allegations “overwhelmingly” sustained against him.
It listed them to include:
    •    Aiding and abetting through criminal conspiracy by awarding contracts to his allies and conies through which Local Government funds were siphoned;
    •    Collection of various sums of Money both in Naira and Foreign currencies in form of salaries and purchase of official car for office of the wife of chairman which does not exist.
    •    Obtaining Bank loans and overdrafts at various times between October 2012 and February 2013 without the knowledge and approval of the Legislative council;
    •     Award of over-inflated and questionable contracts; and
    •    Purchase of a N17m vehicle for the office of the Chairman without delivery of same to the Council.
“A petition, chronicling these atrocities, was addressed by the Council Legislative House to Lagos State House of Assembly, demanding an urgent intervention in the matter and appropriate sanction against Mr. Ajide,” CSNAC said.  “Though, Mr. Ajide was summoned by Clerk of the Assembly on the strength of the petition, in a curious twist, the indicted Council Chairman has continued in corruptly enriching himself and cronies at the expense of developing the council area. “Following these unresolved allegations against Mr. Ajide and failure of the Lagos State House of Assembly to discharge its constitutional duties on this matter, we here demanding an urgent investigation and necessary action of your Commission on this matter.”
Forward the relevant documents to the EFCC and citing the failure of the Lagos State House of Assembly to discharge its constitutional duties on the matter, CSNAC demanded urgent investigation and necessary action

Battle For 2015 Commences In The APC

APC-Logo1

The All Progressives Congress, APC has started experiencing what big political parties usually experience, and what has wreaked havoc on the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a silent but potent war to become the APC’s flag bearer for the 2015 presidential election may have begun in the party.
Involved in the silent battle, according to sources are former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar who is yet to formally join the APC, but will from all indications join if he’d be assured of a presidential ticket.
Having brought together people from different parties, sources say the APC would probably throw the race wide open so as to ensure no one is left aggrieved at the end.
After achieving most of its goals thus far, the opposition party is said to be planning to organise its first national convention to elect a substantive leadership by March.
Buhari has not declared an ambition yet, but many believe he still craves a chance at the Aso Rock Villa.
Former EFCC chairman Ribadu is also yet to openly declare for the race but he is said to be bidding his time as well.
Kwankwaso is one of the five aggrieved PDP governors who recently defected to APC.
He has a huge support of northerners, especially those who defected from the PDP.
Atiku’s name is also making the rounds as a likely presidential aspirant in the party.
The leaders of the APC had extended a hand of friendship to him, and he told them he would consult with his associates and give the APC leaders a feedback.
The party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, who spoke with Thisday yesterday on telephone, maintained that the party had not officially taken any step to narrow its choice of flagbearer.
“At the moment, the party has not considered the issue of who its presidential candidate would be. Until we get to that stage, we will not bar anyone from expressing interest or aspiring for the presidential candidacy. The party is not going to stop anyone from expressing his views, especially when it has to do with legitimate ambition.
“All I say is that everything will be done according to the rules, there will be party primaries to elect candidates for elective offices in the land, from the local, states to the national levels,” he said.
Mohammed said for now the matter had not been officially tabled at the party’s top hierarchy as a major priority because the APC was busy with its national recruitment drive.
Despite the official position of APC, analysts say with President Jonathan obvious to be planning to run for re-election in 2015, it would be in the party’s best interest to field a worthy opposition, as a candidate not widely accepted in the country will be tantamount to the failure of APC in 2015.

BREAKING NEWS: Rivers Assembly Majority Leader, Chidi Lloyd, Arrested For Murder

The Rivers State Police Command said it had arrested the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, for the alleged murder of his kinsman, Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo and a police sergeant, Urang Obediah.

A statement made on Thursday night indicated that Lloyd was purportedly arrested on his way to join the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in his private jet in order to escape justice.
The statement sent via e-mail by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, specified that Lloyd knocked down Obediah while pursuing Ejeuo, identified to be his political opponent.
Lloyd, who was still standing trial for his involvement in the fracas that took place in the State House on July 9, 2013, was said to have rammed into Ejeuo’s Passat car with a bulletproof vehicle and killed him (Ejeo).
The police command pointed out that it had initially thought it was an auto accident until Lloyd relocated to another hospital, “conscious of what he did.”
“The Rivers State Police Command has arrested Hon. Chidi Llyod of the Rivers State House of Assembly for murder of police Sgt. Urang Obediah and Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo, his kinsman and arch political opponent.
“He was arrested on his way to join Governor Amaechi Rotimi in his private jet at the Airforce base to escape justice.
“Hon. Chidi Lloyd on December 30, 2013 while pursing his political opponent, knocked down Sgt. Urang Obediah, in spite of his effort to stop him, rammed and killed him and went ahead to crush the Passat car of Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo was driving and killed him.
“Initially the Police thought that it was a mere accident, which ought to have been a manslaughter. The Commissioner of Police directed ACP Aliyu Garba, the Area Commander Metro, to visit him in his hospital bed and commiserate with him, conscious of what he did, Chidi Lloyd relocated to another hospital.
“Facts emerged that Chidi Lloyd drove a bullet-proof vehicle while pursuing his political opponent, late Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo, and he (Lloyd) knocked down Sgt. Urang Obediah, who died on the spot and (Lloyd) moved ahead to smash a political opponent in his Passat car who equally died instantly,” the statement reads.
The statement added that late Ejeuo, who hailed from the same place with Lloyd was believed to be in the PDP camp led by Elder Felix Obuah.
The statement also indicated that the Leader of the House allegedly escaped from the hospital where he was being guarded by four policemen.
However, a top government official told our correspondent that the claim by the police that Lloyd tried to join Amaechi in his (Amaechi) private jet in order to escape justice was a blatant lie.
It will be recalled that Lloyd, who presented himself to the Nigeria Police after a video clip showed him hitting a member of the House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Chinda, with a mace on the head, was charged to court on a six-count charge, including attempted murder.
Lloyd was later granted bail in order to receive medical attention after sustaining injury during the July 9, 2013 free-for-all in the chambers of the State House of Assembly.
